Just hit 3000 miles on our road trip. Traveling in a Subaru Outback that we bought from Jamie. She bought it to travel around CA while working at a winery in Napa with Kelly. Jamie and Kelly had planned on working at a winery in Adelaide, Australia but their work visa was not accepted this time so Kelly is in the big island, Kona, HI working on scuba and snorkel boats. Jamie is in Santiago, Chili. Has already taken one side trip to Argentina with her Napa roommate for Christmas and now is on another side trip with her Austin friend, Candra to Patagonia then back to Santiago teaching English and back to her Camp director job in Vietnam in June. Lol. Kevin and I will be staying a couple days in Cocoa, FL with our friend Bill Bell. Then off to Delray Beach where we left our truck. Just listed this car on Craigslist last night and already have four hits.

Local police are ready for the crowds for the New Year Eve celebration - Moon Pie in the Sky. Heard there was shooting last year. The 22 degree weather may have cut down the normal 50,000 people.
We are in Mobile, AL for New Year's we are in Mobile, AL. Check out this celebration! lol
When the moon hits your pie like a … wait a minute. A MoonPie? Up in the sky? Why – it must be MoonPie Over Mobile, the Mobile New Year’s Eve 2017 celebration!
That’s right: a MoonPie.
You know what I’m talking about: every year, the good people of Mobile, AL come together to watch as a giant, 600 pound, electric MoonPie drops down a pole and a new year is announced. That’s a Mobile New Year’s Eve in a nutshell (or a MoonPie wrapper.) Followed by fireworks and light show and bands all night.
This band travels around downtown playing. Heard them last time I was here with Kelly.
Happy New Year from Mobile, Jimmy Buffet’s home town.

The second time the Biosphere 2 was used for its intended purpose as a closed system experiment March to September 1994. Both attempts ran into problems of low food and oxygen, die off of many animals and plants, and squabbling among residents. In 2011 it was bought by University of AZ with a mission of research, outreach, teaching and lifelong learning about the earth. Remains to be largest closed system ever.
This is an outstanding gardening trick about 4000 years old. Glue together two unglazed pottery pots. Plug the hole in the bottom pot. Plant in center of plants. Pour water in top hole. Roots will be drawn to water seeping from the pots whenever water is needed. Much less water is needed for your plants.
This is an amazing gardening system that I can’t wait to try out at home. The top layer is a tank of Poi Fish. Other fish ok. The water is circulated to each lower level and pumped back up at the bottom level to recirculate using 10 % of the amount of water normally used. The Fish waste fertilizes the plants. Genius!
Checking out the Biosphere. Constructed btw 1987 and 1991 by Biosphere Ventures as a closed ecological system to support human life in outer space. 4 men and 4 women lived in the closed space 1991 - 1993. Two of the couples ended up marrying.

Last year we spend it on our boat headed to the FL Keys. On our way to Savanna today for a couple of days, (road trip) then on to Delray Beach to visit family. Our 17 day cruise takes off from Ft Lauderdale on November 8, to San Diego through the Panama Canal.
Starting our adventure with the Hampton Snowbird Rendezvous in Hampton Virginia. We were there from Thursday, October 12 to Sunday, October 15. Great time meeting up with boaters new and old. We had planned on continuing our trip south on the boat as far as Belhaven North Carolina, very quaint little town with great restaurants, yoga classes, and they love boaters. We returned home a week early on Sunday because it was a beautiful day to travel and the next week look like windy cold weather. Happy to be back at the beach!
We love the awesome dock master at the public piers in Hampton.Tom who has planted this garden as his hobby. He encourages all the boaters to take vegetables from the garden.
