Carolina State Forest, NC. We pedaled up to the American Legion for a few choice beverages. Once we told them we were in route to Florida via bicycle, they shot us a few cold ones on the house and spotted us $20 to camp in the forest adjacent to the lodge. Never have I experience such hospitality, and just reminds me there a plenty of good people out there. So, here is camp tonight. Tomorrow we will wash up and hit the road for Myrtle Beach, to Charleston, and then Savannah.

Camping here tonight in Cedar Island, NC. It was a long few days in the outer banks of North Carolina. We were fortunate to get some good winds at our back yesterday. That made pedaling a lot faster, so were able to maintain speeds of about 14-17 miles per hour for about 3 hours, until the wind shifted bringing our speeds down to 9-11 mph. We covered 72 miles yesterday, the day before 57, and the day before that 95 miles. Today we covered a paltry 24 miles because of the many ferry crossings.

Going to chill out in the tent a read a book for the evening. Just cooked up dinner on the MSR stoves, and bathed completely in mosquito repellant, so in good shape. Nights have cool winds followed by stillness, so in and out of the sleeping constantly trying to find the right temp. I should have purchased a warm weather bag. Oh, well! Thank to the those who have supported. Your message mean a lot.
