It's spring time, and we're in dire need of a holiday. Off we go in our new Ford Ranger! :)

Monday 26 Sep 2016 14:55

Aaaaaand we're back! 😊 Both girls were happy to see us, and vice versa. Now... The fun begins; loads of laundry to do, cleaning and rearranging. 😞

OMG! 😱 My chicken Parma is even bigger than the lasagna in Mackay!! I started and ended this holiday with monster serves. Tomorrow, it's back to reality AND weight loss. 😞

Our last evening dinner of our holiday at the Park Avenue Hotel restaurant in Rockhampton. In 24 hours, we'll be back with our girls... Can you see what's on my mind!? LMAO!! πŸ˜„ That's actually our table number.

Well... I guess it had to happen... We're on holidays, so one of us had to get sick. I simply could NOT break tradition! Yup! Had a sleepless night of coughing, sneezing, watery eyes and sandpaper throat. Dave isn't looking too crash hot either. It's raining today, so we're simply gonna stay in and rest. Hopefully, I'll kick this head cold to the curb before it gets worst. We're leaving Saturday and we have a HELL of a lot of driving to do, so we need to be fit and focused. πŸ˜•

Mobo Crater Lake. Apparently, there are platypuses in there, but we had zero chance of seeing any, as the family preceding us on the walk had young, loud, rowdy children in tow (and platypuses are very shy creatures).

Our new resort at Lake Tinaroo is amazing! I made a short video of it yesterday, but I am unable to upload it because we are in a mobile phone dead zone. It's not a room... It's a dang two floor apartment!!! And get this... We had booked two nights, and we liked it so much, we asked if we could extend our stay... We are booked til Saturday night, and it didn't cost us one more extra penny! 😊

This is a panoramic view of Lake Tinaroo.

Today, we decided to walk to Cairns shopping mall and catch a movie... "Sully", with Tom Hanks. It's the story of captain Chesley Sullenberger, and the incident of US Airways Flight 1549 (AWE1549). Scared the shyte out of me (with my flying-phobia), but an excellent movie.

The view from our hotel balcony in Cairns! Wow! Beats the dingy, stinky, mothballed dump we had booked in Port Douglas. I told Dave, "I'm sorry... I can't sleep here!" So, SO glad he agreed.

P.S. I forgot to mention... We were done, staying at our TrendWest resort, but wanted to stay a few extra days in Port Douglas. We thought we had found a nice spot, but when we went to see it... Err... Yeah! Dump, dee dump, dee dump!

We spent today, back down in Cairns; checking out a psychic fair and doing a bit of shopping at Cairns Central shopping mall. Tonight, it's our last day at our TrendWest resort, so we opted to take advantage of the 50$ gift voucher and pig out at the restaurant downstairs. We had some crocodile spring rolls! I thought they were delicious, but Dave wasn't overly fussed with them.

Springing Back To Life

User: cre8tivesoul
Dates: 7 Sep 2016 - 26 Sep 2016
Duration: 2Β weeks, 5Β days

It's spring time, and we're in dire need of a holiday. Off we go in our new Ford Ranger! :)

Commenting is closed

Not sure, Bev. Apparently, Angel warmed up enough to let Jan stroke her back... But Mia kept her distances the whole time. Me thinks we're gonna get an initial warm welcome (of desperation), but then we'll get the "middle claw" for a week or so. LOL! 😊

Mum, I couldn't stop laughing when I saw it! πŸ˜„ I was rather sleep deprived and exhausted from the long drive. I had just racked up 350km under my belt. xoxo

I wonder if the girls we'll act happy to see you or pretend they don't know you. :) Only a cat...

OMG this is funny, I was wondering what's with the 24 on top of your head.
I knew it was the table number but where it's situated is hilarius. And now we
know what you were thinking about!
Well now, this is a very nice ending of a very nice holiday .
Hope you are well rested. Take care and see you on skype soon.
Love Mum and Dad oxox

Thanks everyone. T'was a head cold. I managed to beat it into submission in time... We're leaving this morning and even though I'm not 100%, I'm feeling fit enough for it. 😊

Allergies perhaps? Whatever it is, I hope you're both feeling better by the time you need to get on the road again.

So sorry to hear that you are ill! I hope you get well soon and that you are both fit for the drive home. (((Hugs))) xoxo

I agree, bro. He's the sort of pilot I want flying my airplane. You can't beat years of experience! 😊 I'll Google the movie you suggested when I get back... Shitty Internet connection where we are at the mo.

About Sully, I'm a glass half full kinda guy. Nobody died, so it was a good day after all. With pilots that have that kind of talent, i can't feel anything but safe. If you get a chance, have a look at Picher entre ciel et terre.

The view is superb! I'm really glad we chose this place. It will be hard to leave, indeed... But wait til you see the one we booked in at Lake Tinaroo! It gets even better. πŸ˜‰
Hubby and I are big Tom Hanks fan as well. Every movies he plays in turn out to be hits... Not a coincidence. 😊

Good eats, good views and good company - hard to go wrong with that combination! Glad the movie was enjoyable (I've always been a Hanks fan).

Wow! This place looks very nice and the pic you took ( superb )
I guess you wont feel like going back home soon.
Enjoy your nice vacation and keep us posted.
Mum & Dad oxox

Thanks, matey. Even though this is a hotel room (no cooking facilities), it is SOOO worth it. 😊 xo

Wow!! That view is spectacular! Very beautiful. Hope you both have a good nights sleep. πŸ˜€

Bro, when the Japanese tried to invade the northern part of Oz in WWII, they managed to drop a few bombs. One of them ended up in the paddock nearby and injured a young child... She was the only Australian casualty from these attacks.

OMG! LOL! It does look like a bear's butt! πŸ˜‚ The fins even look like its ears!

What does the monument, bomb, dick, commemorate?

I thought the bomb (at a quick glance) was a bear's butt. :) Then of course I was wondering, "There are bears in Australia!?" :D

T'was a bit of a crazy hectic (but fun) day. Glad we have a nice, quiet resort room to return to. 😊❀️ xo

Happy Anniversary!!! xoxo

Glad to hear you are having a good day, yay! Looks like you are having quite an adventure. πŸ˜€

Hey matey! I had never heard of the tar tree either. How crazy is that tree! Still... Not as bad as the Gympie Stinger! 😱

We're having a blast, today. It's our 16th anniversary. 😊 xoxo

The beach looks lovely πŸ˜€ . Goodness about the Tar Tree! I hadn't heard of them before. Having said that I've only been as far north as Cairns and only once, it was so hot I spent most of the time in the pool, didn't really get to see much apart from the little city, which is a shame.

Hope you are having a good day today. xox

Me too, Bev! They are just so ominous and impressive! The photos doesn't due them justice.

Those curtain figs never cease to amaze me.

Ute is driving like a breeze, soulsis! But it desperately needs a clean. Where we currently park it is under fig trees, and it's home to flocks of figbirds. What goes in, must come out! πŸ˜•

How's the new truck doing?

Yikes! Wouldn't wanna be flying on that day, either. As much as driving is long-winded and draining, I pick that over flying any old day of the week!

That surf and beach look mighty relaxing! Glad you got an "all okay" from the pet sitter. :) Waiting for my mom to fly in from Portugal. Today is not exactly a day I'd want to be flying (9/11 anniversary), but once they get a certain age, you just can't tell them a thing! :D

😊

Are you happy now? Did you fin a trash bag? Wink, wink, nudge, nudge...

Thanks mum and dad. We're finally starting to relax. 'Twas a bit touch, for a while... The pet sitter hadn't contacted us to let us know all was well. She emailed us this morning to let us know everything is fine. xoxo

Hi, Carole & Dave,
You are now in Cairns and enjoying your stay.
Your appartment looks nice and the weather is not bad either and so is the food.Keep us posted. We like following you on your nice trip along the Coast.
Mum & Dad oxox

There have been such incidents, Bev. Some tourists have disappeared while sunbathing on the beach.
These flatlands use to be rainforests that were cleared out many years ago to cultivate sugar cane. Must've been one hell of a job!

I'm sure even with the croc signs there will be nuts trying to feed them or get photos!
The landscape is unusual with the flat roads and mountains in the distance. :)
You guys enjoy yourselves!

Hey bro... We have a big Prawn, Merino sheep and Rocking Horse too. Have a Google at all the "big" icons in Oz... You'll get a massive laugh.

Hey, you're driving on the wrong side of the road.

Big mango, mouaaaa! I knew about the big pineapple and we have a big apple in Cobourg, but this is hilarious

Thanks matey! 😊 πŸ’–πŸ’“ xoxo

Hiya! Glad to see you've arrived safely, I'm sure you will both have a good sleep tonight. Enjoy your dinner πŸ˜€ .

(((hugs)))
