Bicycle tour for Livestrong

Commenting is closed
WHO: Your crazy, cautiously fearless pal Steve (as well as John Martin, Terri Battee & Jeremy Hayes potentially joining in for stretches...where y'at, people?) on a bike, carrying hopefully not too much of anything
WHAT: A 5000-mile bike tour (1.5x the distance of the US coast-to-coast, or about the distance of Austin-Paris) with 15% OF GROSS REVENUES GOING TO LIVESTRONG & their fight against cancer. The Goal: $3000+ raised with $450+ going to Livestrong
WHEN: January-April, 2012
WHERE: All Over Texas (about 4000 miles) & Louisiana (about 1000 miles)
WHY: To Raise Awareness & Funds for Livestrong, To Inspire Myself & Others and To Be Generally Positive & Supportive for Whomever Comes Across the Tour
HOW: Being that I'm on a shoestring budget (a tattered shoestring, at that), and since Exxon & GM & such won't care to pass along bailout support to a bike-powered tour, I hope to make this a people-supported tour, that would naturally be of service to people, to whatever extent proves possible
I NEED YOU PEOPLE:
-SPREAD THE WORD, VISIT THE SITE: Please tell your people about the tour, and visit the site often!
-ORGANIZING: As I'm trying to ensure that this tour's well-organized, I could definitely use help, in ways which I'll expound upon soon, but you may have your own ideas too. Main tasks that seem key to me: Outreach/Promotion, Fundraising, Media/Press Releases, Tour Lodging, Tour Equipment Donations, Etc.
-T-SHIRT AD SPACE: Buy T-Shirt Ad Space Starting at Only $100 for 100 shirts (starting at only $80 till 9/1)
-TOUR SHIRTS: Reserve your 100% cotton, American-made tour t-shirt for ONLY $17 till 9/15. After 9/15, these high-quality shirts are still just $20.
-WEB AD SPACE: Buy Web Space on Tour Site, Starting at Only $10 (starting at only $8 till 9/15)
-ADOPT-A-MILE:: Support the trip by adopting 1+ miles of the 5000 miles on the tour at only $1/mile (or just 80 cents/mile till 9/15).
-SALES OPPORTUNITY: Be compensated via 15% commission for any/all tour products/services that you sell
-***LODGING***: help secure lodging at any or all of the various tour stops for $10 CREDIT EACH toward tour products/services/etc.
-YOUR CREATIVITY IS WELCOME: I haven't figured out all of the best ways to ensure that this tour rolls along. If you have ideas on how you/others would be able to help out, please let me know, your creativity is welcome.
THANK YOU
Please stay in touch, sending along any feedback/questions/comments.
And thank you, very much
