I ended up finding a warmshowers.org host in McAllen, TX, to whom I'll have my card sent. He's a school teacher, so I trust him :) We'll see how it goes.
Posted: 3 Nov 2010 by TheBikingBrewer
Why don't you have it sent general delivery to a town down there? Then just go to the Post Office show an ID and get it. I used to do that all the time when I was hitchhiking about the country. Safer than what you're contemplating.
Posted: 2 Nov 2010 by nik
I'm good, was just taking a rest for about a week in Austin, TX. I'm on the road now, pushing southward, with a new twist - I lost my debit card! So I got at least a week with no cash. Gonna have my bank send my new debit card to a random person's address near the border... hope it works out!

Posted: 27 Oct 2010 by mark
Hey Amigo,
They gave you free beer? Why don't I ever have that kind of luck? Walking about 12 miles a day now. The MacTavish doesn't want to go with me anymore, so I may have to find him a temporary home next summer. Found a Big Agnes tent on eBay and got it for 29$!! Got 3 new batches of wine fermenting. Life is good in the Glorious Buckeye State.
Posted: 20 Oct 2010 by Nik
That doesn't look good!! How far from town were you when this happened? and what exactly did happen?
Posted: 24 Sep 2010 by nik
@Nik - the serpent was amazing. It was simple yet so impressive. There is even a natural spring nearby where I filled up all my water bottles. Sleeping under the power lines was fine, but a bit confusing when I woke up because I thought it was raining! Cheers, thanks so much.
Posted: 16 Sep 2010 by TheBikingBrewer
I was wondering if you would divert to see that or not. Glad you made it over there! Walked 7 miles today, the MacTavish was pretty worn out though
Posted: 13 Sep 2010 by Nik
Forgot to ask; Was it any more or less comfortable under the electric wires?
