On the ferry waiting to disembark at Dover
Nearly back to Blighty, the chase from Dunquerque is complete
Sneaked on the earlier ferry thus saving 2 hours. Complimented by the French soldiers on my French 🤓
Peloton going thru the market.
This is heavily distorted but an interesting perspective
Nic's devilish drink!
Eventually we have warmth and bright sunshine - must be time to go home.
This is the placemat for lunch just outside Tournai. Rather an unexpected pleasure. A real brewery just happened to drive past.
Wakey, wakey, wots this, le soleil, vous avez le soleil en Belge?
Autistic attempt of a bridge
Digestif sir, nice glass.
Our accommodation is the 2nd boat along, and very nice it is too
Namur view from our porthole 😁
Charles Quint or Kaiser Karel whilst letting the downpour evaporate
In Huy it is mostly raining
Bottom of the classic climb. 1.3 km with max 26% and average of 9.3%
Verviers in Belgium
Auf wiedersehen Deutschland, bonjour Belgium
On one bridge and at least 3 more in the distance
The Hohenzollern bridge covered in locks
Can u tell which one is Daddy bear's? 🍺🍺
Another weener of a beer
This bridge is covered in locks!!
On the other side of the Dom
At the banks of the Rhein
Inbetween showers the sun came out
This is the format. Beer direct from the barrel (vom fass), into small glasses. Then they keep coming round making sure you don't have an empty glass. It's tough being on holiday.
How did he know this was our 4th brauhaus 😃😃? These glasses are only 0.2 of a litre
Brauhaus in Köln
Our hotel from the tram
On the tram into Köln
Cheeky stop at the Rewe supermarkt found these. Had the black one earlier today, knew I would like it. The committee has also decided that bottle tops opened whilst off premise ARE acceptable for presentation in the garage.
Croatian meal which was sehr gut!
View from our room in the middle of nowhere!
Hmm, hints of chocolate in this trad black beer
At last found some hills! It's sooooo flat round here. Haven't seen a Hill in days
Classic onion domes
Guess who? Apparently he came from Bonn
Bonn. Arrived after a very slow journey cos of an accident on the autobahn ( not involving us)
Having walked over 10 miles yesterday we are leaving Düsseldorf for Bornheim. This is a small place between Koln and Bonn. We aim to go to Bonn for today and then spend tomorrow in Koln.
This is how they keep a tab on the drinks you have had. The slashes denote the haus bier count
Third hausbrauerei of the day. This is Nic's elderflower non alcoholic beer. Nic has just bought some shoes so is feeling epic! 😁
A different Hausbrauerei, in the Altstadt (old town).
My lunch 🤔, the black pudding is bigger than the bread!!
In a hausbrauerei, somewhere that brews its own beer. Small glasses though 🙄
Aren't I clever?
My reward for being a big brave boy. Worryingly when writing brave it changes to brace. Does the phone realise how high up we are?
Can you see the fear?
Rhein from above
168 metres up, looking back to the hotel
Breakfast next to the waterside. We are in the Marriott which is in the haven or harbour
Dinner time in a Spanish place. Unfortunately the local football team have just finished, so the town centre is rammed with smashed fans. Tomorrow we will seek out the longest bar in the world. Tonight it was within touching distance
Bier keller not
Rhein river in distance
A room with a view
Wir sind in Düsseldorf and the hotel is showing the end of the Vuelta
Cafe life in Eindhoven
Tea time in Eindhoven
Arrived in Eindhoven (Netherlands).
Entering the Netherlands
Can't beat a bit of 1815 bragging rights 🤓🤡
After a fruitless traipse thru Antwerp, ended up in Bier Central opposite the hotel. They have 300+ Belgium beers, puts POV to shame. Note to self, never come back to Antwerp, it is not nice. It feels very unsafe with a lot of undesirables around. Gent, in comparison, was superb. We would go there again.
Arrived in Antwerp, which was a bit nerve wracking (traffic n navigation wise). After we found the hotel the tv had the Vuelta on. Well cycling is the national sport of Belgium
The castle in Gent. All previous pics are all in Gent
Shopping - this is a shop that only sells beer!
On St Michaels bridge
Ahh they named it after me
Lunch, and guess what, mums on her phone 😁
We are in Gent and it is raining
Davina Bailey grabbed my phone and tried to be autistic [sic] 😏
Onboard looking out to sea. The coast of France is very visible and the ferry lane too!
White cliffs of Dover
Meal wasn't great but was nearby
After a long Friday afternoon journey to Dover, we are in the Brewer's Fayre 🍺🍺 Unfortunately it is only Doom Bar to start us off
