Hotel Bacharach Hof It's quite cold this morning but the sun is trying to break through. Good breakfast with fresh fruit, bacon & scrambled egg, good coffee, bread & jam plus ham cheese and cakes.

Heidelberg. Planned to stop here for a few hours but it was raining heavily and we couldn't find a place to park so kept going north
Near Nussloch on the edge of a nature park somewhere south of Heidelberg. Another detour because of roadworks!
Wiesenbach. Coffee and toilet break. Garage/cafe or as said " greasy spoon place".

Wallerstein. Here because of diversion on our planned route. We've travelled miles to find a coffee shop and eventually stopped at a garage. Then just round the next corner there was choice of 4!!

Dinner was a traditional Czech dish. Looked odd; roast beef in a rich sauce with 3 slices of bread but it tasted ok.

Caught the train from Riem to Marienplatz in the centre of Munich. Had a lovely day walking round the centre. Chatted to couple from Singapore on the train, a couple from Frankfurt in a pub and a couple from New Zealand in a coffee bar.

Zerf Lunch stop. Good fun ordering food. We think Anthea will have onion soup and I'll have a sandwich with goat meat. Let's see what comes!! The onion soup was ok but mech too salty and the goat meat sandwich was a few small slices of toast with goats cheese and a salad dripping in oil& vinegar. We swapped.
The Main Street was impassible because of roadworks but the satnav kept directing us down it. Managed to get out of the place by following the locals as there wasn't a sign posted deviation.
Trier in Germany. Quite a large town on the banks of the River Mosel. Decided not to stop.

Poperinge centre. Poperinge remained behind the British lines throughout WW1 and where allied soldiers came for some respite from the trenches or because they were injured and treated in the field hospital or died and buried in the military cemetery.
