Done. After the splendour of the Highlands, Inverness greets us with PC World and traffic. Incredible trip. Cheeks glowing like a 3 bar fire.

7.5km to go and very little battery. Dawn was as beautiful as the sunset. Early rise but late start. Could be the last update. Thanks for watching.

We only bloody well made it. In time for the sunset too!

The beach at the end of the loch, tonight's camp, is in sight. Ness is massive, but conditions have helped us and it looks like we will get a beer in the pub in Dores...

If you have been at all entertained, or even distracted by this trip, please donate. (JustGiving/C2C-paddle) Despite the coffee and the pie, it has been a really tough trip (I only get the phone out when it isn't throwing down and we're off the water), surely worth a couple of quid.

Going well, but Loch Ness is a MONSTER!

Posted: 7 months, 3 weeks ago

  • Thursday 29 Sep 2011 9:21

So this is it. The mighty Lake Ness. More water in here than all the lakes in England put together (or summat) and it never gets about 6 degrees, even in mini heat waves. We'll be paddling it all day and some of tomorrow. Why not leave a comment and wish us luck?

    Payback...

Monumentally tired, but only one map to go (ignoring the fact the Lake Ness is printed on both sides). Back and arms are obviously tired, but legs and back too from hauling loaded boat around locks. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    Loch Oich isn't disappointing...

Lunch (not mentioning the weather). A bit of canal to come before Loch Oich. Looks the most beautiful of all...

Posted: 7 months, 3 weeks ago

  • Tuesday 27 Sep 2011 16:24

Exhausted. The drag up Neptune's Staircase (google it) then 6 more miles of paddling to do and there is a rumour of a shower. Really sick of being wet. Also suffering a little 'Gentleman's Burn'...
