The kids hung out at the pool until about 4 AM. My sister made a lot of money for the street drummers filling in and drumming for them for a while. She drew huge crowds while Shelly was breakdancing in the street. Way too much fun!!

This is our new address for the next couple of months. We'd love to hear from everyone. I've already been snorkeling but only because I dropped Sandy's bike lock in the water, about 20 feet, this restaurant has underwater lights so a ton of fish, I expect they would frown on spear fishing under the glass button restaurant but it would be easy.
We found Kelly's old dive buddy at the marina we are staying at only one boat away. Wolfman's working at the Big Chill.
Our boat slip is nearly in side of the Pilot House Restaurant you have to go through the restaurant to get to our boat. The Keys are great!

More manatee than we've ever seen in one spot. Going through the Haulover cut connecting Mosquito Lagoon to the Indian River it was very challenging to avoid running over one! We must have seen 30!
Unfortunately seeing a lot of really nice boats up on the banks along the way.
Sandy with one of the Drag Queens at Mary's . This is a place that Rick recommended. I think he used to go there all the time. Drag Queen also happens to be the name of our anchor app that sends an alarm if we drag.
This Drag Queen was Sandy's favorite but we had to leave because we ran out of $1's
Really this one was my favorite!
That's what I'm talking about.....
Ray the dockmaster was super nice and very helpful. He even gave us a tour of the yacht club. We met very friendly members at happy hour at their Tiki Bar. Look at all these sailboats. We are truly the only Trawler out here on a mooring ball.
On a mooring ball in StAugustine.
Met up with other boaters for dinner in St Augustine last night. Had a great time.
First time on a mooring ball. Good thing we made a reservation. Boaters we're being turned away who did not. Looks like we're the only trawler out here with tons of sail boats. Really nice view.
Red Moon Rising. I know the photo doesn't show it but it's cool.
Amelia Island Yacht Basin did have a very nice new Toyota courtesy car so we were able to drive into the very charming historic Fernandina Beach walk around town and have a glass of wine while watching a beautiful sunset!
Amazing docking job Captain Tucker with little or no help from an inexperienced (in training) dock hand! Lol. Very tight spot!! We have a special code when the dock hand does not know what he is doing. I tell Kevin to remind me to buy broccoli while in town. Very nice guy but Amelia Island Marina is not used to transient boaters but getting a lot of them now since the beautiful Fernandina Harbor Marina is closed due to hurricane damage.
Passing Fernandina Harbor Marina where we really wanted to stay but was majorly damaged by Matthew. Will not open until 2017 but maybe longer.
Leaving Georgia. Made it to Florida!
Right next to the Clubhouse at Brunswick Landing, free beer every night. Wine is on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We leave at first light and should make it to Florida tomorrow.

It's Monday! We made it to Brunswick Landing Marina, famous for free beer and wine.
We stayed at a tiny marina in Townsend, GA. The owner, Henry came out in his skiff and led us in through a windy canal 6 miles long. Lol. Nicest guy, he gave us a 110 extension card to hook our boat up to electric. Definitely a dock to use fender boards. Thanks again Tom Hill! Surprised we didn't find this marina in any of the books. We were the only boat there except for one that was for sale. We were just happy we didn't have to anchor out in Georgias crazy currents.
A flock of seagulls following the boat.
Following Ariel Hell Gate just ahead! Worst sport on the ICW.
Saying bye to Thunderbolt, GA, sweet little town and awesome Marina. Used the courtesy car to go to Walmart and Publix for groceries. Dockmaster Hal was very nice and very helpful. Had a delicious crab cake at Tourtulle Grill with our new yachting buddies, Jim and Barbara on Ariel, a 44 foot Krogen. Then back to Tubbys Tank House for more great live music. Two great restaurants within short walking distance from the marina. Followed these experienced yachters out through Hells Gate this morning. Thanks for the tips guys!
Hanging out with the band Calibogue Sound at Tubbys Tank House in Thunderbolt, GA. Outskirts of Savannah. We were warned not to go into the town of Savannah because of all the intense commercial traffic. We can easily Uber into Savannah from here but may just want to hang out here which is a really cool place with lots going on.
Doing a great job of finding amazing music at Tubby's Tank in Thunderbolt outside of Savannah! Great shagging music!

Yay. Toasting Martha Anne for renting our Va Beach home while we are away. Thanks Martha! You rock!
This looks like a place Lloyd would like. No one anywhere near you and you have to get there by boat.
When we left Georgetown this morning we missed the ICW and we're heading out to sea! I took Gary Ashton's advice when you don't know where you are STOP!
Leaving Georgetown had a great time with Rory and Karen last night. Beautiful home of course!
Thanks Rory for the entertainment knocking down some Jethro Tull! Awesome! Kevin says he felt like he was back in the boys dorm.

Thank you Julie and Andy For the lovely breakfast in your beautiful home on the I CW on Sunday morning.
Va Beach friends Liz and Rosalinda visited us on the boat in Myrtle Beach and partied with us at our friends beautiful home Tony and Dolores.
I loved the Myrtle Beach yacht club Marina which also had an awesome restaurant. Was wonderful to meet up with friends in the Myrtle Beach area Tony and Dolores Augustine and our boating buddies with the same Main ship call the Fruitcake's, Andy and Julie Perry. Who have actually completed the great American loop. Our friends Rosalinda Diaz and Liz Baylon happened to be visiting in Myrtle Beach celebrating their birthdays. Tony and Dolores put together an awesome party for all of us. And made a delicious Boston butt. Lots of Shaggin going on!
North Myrtle Beach.
Yikes! Someone did not make it through the dreaded Lockwood Folly.
Took off from Carolina Beach this morning following our new friends on the 34 Mainship Trawler 2thFish. We enjoyed docktails on our boat with Gordon and Sue from 2thFish last night before going out. Gordon thanks much for the help with the apps!
And the bartender.
We really liked the owners of Gibbys.
After grilling our fresh fish we Ubered into town for our music. The owner in the back is watching Kevin with his wife.
Biked into Carolina Beach to check on the night life. We bought some fresh fish for dinner from a fish house on the Docks. Found two awesome bands. The first was Spare Change at The Sea Witch which started at 8 pm. When they took a break moved over to Gibby's and danced to another great band called Bluestone.
Gale force winds in Carolina Beach. Very happy to be in a protected marina. Doubled up the lines, the Admiral is making great go no go decisions ,she always has. By the way we love reading the comments, Keep them coming!
Kevin getting our bikes off the boat to ride into town for some live music tonight.
Kevin getting our vessel ship shape after our daily travels.
Arrived at our new home at 3:15 today. Beautiful Joyner Marina in Carolina Beach, NC. JW awesome friendly dock master. And free Laundry! Yay - much needed. Here for two days as tomorrow does not look great for yachting.
Little Pink houses for you and me.
Docktail hour on our boat as we just docked for the night at Swan Point Marina. Evelyn the owner is really sweet. Tomorrow early off for Joyner Marina in Carolina Beach. Hoping to be in Myrtle Beach on Friday for the weekend to hook up with friends if the weather cooperates.
We were glad the lights weren't flashing! Camp Lejune, go Marines!
More dolphins frolicking in the ICW.
Beautiful calm waters! Definitely my kind of yachting!!!
Now this is a real trawler..
Our dock is in front of the Bask Hotel. Morehead City. Made it.
This guy has a little to much stuff!

Entering Goose Creek.
Crossing the Pamlico River. About 26 miles up river is McCotters Marina where we bought our boat. yea!
Leaving the sweet little town of Belhaven. Spent two nights here because winds were not favorable for crossing the Pamlico yesterday. A very pleasant place to stay. The people are super friendly. I even found a yoga class!
Dressed up for our dinner date at Spoon River and rode our bikes in on Halloween night. Lots of trick or treaters came in and all restaurants were giving out candy. Hope our house in Virginia Beach did not get egged. First year that Kevin was not there to hand out the king size candy bars to 67 plus trick or treaters.
Delicious dinner at Belhaven Spoon River Artworks Market, fine dining, art, wine shop and market. These are huge servings of a single meal they split for us. We bought a flight of wine. The very nice owners kept checking on us and gave us an additional free flight of wine.
Belhaven takes Halloween very seriously. They expect to have hundreds of kids. The surrounding rural areas bring all their kids here. I took an awesome yoga class at this beautiful bed and breakfast this morning. We held back here for a second day as winds were high and our travels will be through the Pamlico which are open waters. Tomorrow looks awesome and warmer again.
OK the guy we meet from Turkey is off on his way to St Martin, what could possibly go wrong?
Hey we got a neighbor. He is from Turkey. He bought his boat on eBay. He's planning on sailing to St Martin. He's never boated before obviously from docking skills. Prayers that he makes it there safely.
Enjoyed the sunset with docktails.
Took our bikes off and toured around Belhaven.
All alone at the free town docks in Belhaven.
Docked on the free docs at Bellhaven. It really cute little town. Delicious homemade ice cream!

Our first anchorage on this tour at Alligator River Cove. Also first time for our dingy the Namaste to be launched.
Hey, look at all these boats in front of us. Oh wait, those are the same boats that were just behind us. The Albemarle looks great - what a beautiful day to make the passage!
Wow! Look at all these boats behind us!
Leaving Coinjock Marina. Had awesome company for dinner last night, Kevin's sister Kathryn and Tom Hill. Thanks for coming out!
Yay. We passed him! He just bought his boat three days ago and is on his way to Georgetown.
Kevin is really excited because we've owned this boat four years next March and this is the first boat we've ever passed.
Leaving Virginia. We are now in North Carolina!
Centerville Turnpike Bridge finally opened!
Leaving Atlantic Yacht Basin at Great Bridge. Enjoyed docktails with our new friends Grant and Bette on the Black Tie from NY.
Going into our first lock; the Greatbridge lock. She was an awesome and very patient lock master. She even gave out Halloween candy.
And quite a few boats behind us too. However most of them are passing us.
Waiting for the Gimberton Bridge and the railroad bridge to open. Have a bit of boat traffic with us today.
Leaving Portsmouth free dock heading for Atlantic yacht basin in Greatbridge. Short day on the water. It's a cat dog kind of day as Pam Williams would say.
Docked for our first night at High Street free docks in Portsmouth, VA
Hospital Point, Portsmouth, VA mile 0 on the ICW.
Passing Grants tank farm - Norfolk Oil Transit at Lambert's Point in Norfolk, VA.
Go Navy!! Passing the Norfolk Naval shipyard largest in the world.
There are some large boats out here!
And passing Chamberlin Hotel at Old Point Comfort where Fort Monroe is on our right. We are now officially leaving the Chesapeake Bay and entering the Elizabeth River. Smooth sailing. Yay!
Passing Fort Wool on our left officially leaving the Chesapeake Bay.
Goodbye Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. See you in six months.
Short trip today! Have never said goodbye so many times. Back to Cape Henry Shores. Beautiful day in the neighborhood but not in the bay. We actually took water over the upper helm.
Back in CHS this morning we were able to hook up with our neighborhood bikers for our daily bike ride. There is still lots of standing water in the state park due to Hurricane Matthew. Virginia Beach really took a hit! We were out of power for five days while trying to prepare for our departure. Many of our friends had devastating damage. Prayers are with you all!
Fortunately the Chesapeake Bay can be one of the worst parts of this trip. Most of it is not on open waters like the bay but in protected ICW canals. Looks like tomorrow will be a perfect day to make the crossing. Plan to spend the night in Portsmouth. Hoping some of their free docking is open. Maybe check out the Commodore for a movie. The Accountant with Ben Afleck is playing -have heard it is good.
We started our trip on October 13 going to the awesome Hampton Snowbird Rendezvous and enjoyed a few days of boating classes with other boaters heading south. We were recommended at the end of rendezvous that if we had a place to dock that we should wait a few days to allow the 80 plus boaters to clear out. There were so many boaters bc many would have left earlier without the hurricane. Now we have the issue of many boaters, marinas closed due to damage from the hurricane and lots of debris in the water from broken piers etc.
To me this was a godsend. I had just returned from 21 days in Thailand with my 2 daughters returning Oct 4th so had only 10 days to get ready to leave my house for 6 months. I had an automobile accident one week before going to Thailand and fractured a rib so was not able to use that time to ready our home. Lol.
By the way, our beautiful Virginia Beach home is still a available for rent for six months, fully furnished 5 BR 4 BA. Awesome deal including utilities, cable and WiFi. Let me know you you know someone who may be interested. I'll send details.
Tomorrow looks great - so one day at a time..........
Breathe deeply and often......."
Whoa turning around. The bay is way too rough today!
On our way south. Goodbye Cape Henry Shores.
Getting. Ready to travel! We leave Tuesday morning.
