We got up early this morning to climb Gates Pass and watch the sunrise over Tuscon. Awesome views. We passed a lot of cyclists on our descent back into town. A great ride to end our trip.

We had a steep four mile descent after climbing to the top of Bisbee. A rear flat halfway to Tombstone. And we walked the bike thru some good mountain biking trails to reach tonight's B&B (a shortcut to save 3 miles of dirt roads).

We awoke to find The Shady Dell dusted with one inch of snow. Mike figured out the perculator and we've been listening to 45's and the Dell's own vintage radio station since our Folger's is good to the last drop. And our first few miles will be a hard uphill climb.

We were enjoying a very beautiful ridge top road with great views in all directions. Unfortunately this beautiful road was not the route to Sierra Vista. We learned AFTER the climb.

The Sonoita Inn was built by a co-owner of Secretariat and has a lot of momentos of his races. We dropped off our bags and went back out for a few miles to make it a metric century. The wind was really strong. We saw a group of Vermont Bicycle Tourists headed the other way.

To go north we first had to go south. Way South to Nogales and almost the boarder. And Garmin directed us to a missing bridge. One of the fire station employees helped us carry the bike across the river. It is a beautiful sunny day.

Hoping today is our last day of challenging weather. We are waiting for it to warm up before cycling to Tubac, an artist colony.

We were happy to make today the short, direct route. Severe storm warnings, high winds (head, naturally) and rain that stung like sleet.

We made it to Tuscon, with both halves of the tandem. It's late and we are tired, so Fat Tire beer and green potatoes (sounds like raclette) will revive us.
